Jesus Heals Many
14 (A)And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw (B)his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. 15 He (C)touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. 16 That evening they brought to him many who were (D)oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits (E)with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 (F)This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: (G)“He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”
The Cost of Following Jesus
18 Now (H)when Jesus saw a crowd around him, (I)he gave orders to go over to the other side. 19 (J)And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 21 Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 22 And Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave (K)the dead to bury their own dead.”
Jesus Calms a Storm
23 (L)And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but (M)he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, (N)“Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you (O)afraid, (P)O you of little faith?” Then he rose and (Q)rebuked the winds and the sea, and (R)there was a great calm. 27 And the men (S)marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even (T)winds and sea obey him?”

12 Therefore, (A)rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But (B)woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because (C)he knows that his time is short!”
13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued (D)the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 But the woman was given the two (E)wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent (F)into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished (G)for a time, and times, and half a time. 15 The serpent poured water (H)like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. 16 But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth. 17 Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off (I)to make war on the rest of (J)her offspring, (K)on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to (L)the testimony of Jesus. And he stood[a] on the sand of the sea.
